Google Drive file sourcing

Updated October 5, 2026

Set the file to Anyone with the link and paste its share link: files under 100 MB import as your original file, and larger files import from the playback copy Google Drive makes after upload, so paste the link once the video plays in Drive’s preview.

  1. In Google Drive, open the file’s Share settings.
  2. Under General access, choose Anyone with the link.
  3. Click Copy link and use that link as your video’s source URL.

Files over 100 MB: upload to the SmartVideo Library

If your plan includes the SmartVideo Library, download the video from Google Drive to your computer, then upload it directly to Swarmify. SmartVideo then encodes it from your original file rather than from Drive’s playback copy:

  1. Open the Swarmify dashboard.
  2. Click Video Library, then Upload Video, and select the file from your device.
  3. Once the video is in the Library, open its Media Details page and copy the SmartVideo tag or source URL for your website.

See the SmartVideo Library guide for upload and embedding instructions. Keep your original video file.

The Library is included on standard paid plans, but is not included in the AppSumo lifetime deal. If your plan does not include it, use another supported source below.

Other supported sources

You can store your original video with Dropbox, Amazon S3, or Wasabi. Follow the guide for your provider to set up file access and obtain a source URL SmartVideo can fetch.

See Where to host your source files for the full list of supported sources and their access requirements.

Processing after upload or import

A video usually takes about as long as it runs to convert, and longer when our encoders are busy. Wait for processing to finish before checking playback on your website.
