Does SmartVideo create or edit videos?

No. SmartVideo converts and delivers finished videos; it does not create videos from images or edit your footage.

Use a video editor to turn images into a slideshow, trim clips, or add music. Export the finished video, then bring it to SmartVideo for conversion and playback on your website. SmartVideo encodes it at up to 1080p and plays it on your site ad-free, with your own branding instead of a platform’s.

Player settings, such as choosing a poster image, change how your video appears on the page. They do not edit the video itself.

How you bring a video to SmartVideo

You can upload your finished video to the SmartVideo Library, or use a direct link to a video file hosted elsewhere. An external source must return the video bytes without a login and remain accessible for as long as the video is embedded. Signed or expiring URLs work for the first conversion as long as the link is still valid when SmartVideo fetches it. Once the link expires, SmartVideo can no longer fall back to it or rebuild the video from it, so use a permanent public URL where you can.

YouTube conversion is best-effort, not a reliable import path. If you have the original video file, upload it to the Library instead.

Embed a finished video

Every SmartVideo embed needs both the site-wide loader and a video element. If SmartVideo is not already installed on your site, add this snippet to the page’s <head>, replacing YOUR_SWARM_CDN_KEY with your Swarm CDN Key from the dashboard:

Then place the video element in the page body where you want the player to appear:

Replace the example src with your direct video-file URL or the source URL from the Library. If your site already has SmartVideo installed, use its existing loader rather than adding it again.
