Short answer: nothing gets shut off, and you won’t see a surprise charge.
Every plan includes a set amount of storage — 1 TB on Startup, 3 TB on Growth, and 5 TB on Pro — which covers almost everyone. If your account grows past that, we’ll work with you to right-size it. That usually means one of:
- Upgrading to a plan with more included storage, if your library is actively growing.
- Clearing out unused videos — we can help you find what’s no longer getting views so you can free up space without changing plans.
- For libraries well beyond our standard plans, a custom storage arrangement.
We don’t automatically add storage overage charges to standard plans. If you’re getting close to your limit, email support@swarmify.com or use the message widget in the corner of this page and we’ll help you figure out the best path.
What if my library is already bigger than 5 TB?
That’s fine — the 5 TB on Pro is what’s included, not a ceiling. Libraries above it are supported. As above, nothing is added to your bill automatically: there’s a per-terabyte monthly rate for storage beyond your plan’s allowance, and we quote it to you directly. Email support@swarmify.com with a rough size and we’ll put a number in front of you before you commit to anything.
You don’t need a different product or a bespoke setup for this. A large library on Pro is an ordinary arrangement, and view volume is a separate question — Pro includes 150,000 views a month, so a big archive that’s watched modestly often costs less than a small one that’s watched constantly. Careful: your current host’s storage number won’t map 1:1 to ours
This trips up nearly everyone moving from another platform. If your current host tells you your library is 5.5 TB, don’t assume it’ll be 5.5 TB here.
The reason is that we measure something different. We encode each video into several quality levels so playback stays smooth across devices and connections, and your storage total measures that encoded output — not the original file you uploaded. Some other platforms meter the original upload instead — worth confirming in your current provider’s own documentation before you use their number to size a plan here.
Which direction that moves your number depends entirely on how your originals were exported. Heavily compressed source files usually grow once we encode them for adaptive playback; lightly compressed, high-bitrate exports usually shrink. So a 5.5 TB library elsewhere could land comfortably under 5 TB with us, or somewhat over. The practical move: don’t try to predict it. Bring a representative batch of videos over first, email us for your actual storage figure once they’ve processed, and size your plan from a real number instead of a converted one.
