Using the WordPress Plugin

The complete guide to using SmartVideo with Divi Builder

Updated October 10, 2026

Use the SmartVideo WordPress plugin’s own module to add a video to your Divi Builder page.

  1. Install and activate the SmartVideo plugin. Copy the Swarm CDN Key shown at the top of your Swarmify dashboard. In WordPress, open SmartVideo in the admin sidebar, paste the key into the Setup tab, and click Enable SmartVideo. The plugin loads the SmartVideo script for you; don’t also paste the global SmartVideo snippet onto the page.
  2. Have your video ready. You can pick or upload a WordPress Media Library file from inside the module in step 4. For a video hosted elsewhere, use a publicly accessible video file URL. If the video is in your SmartVideo Library, use the source URL from its Media Details page; keep the swarmify:// prefix.
  3. Open your page in Divi’s Visual Builder. Inside the row where you want the video, click the gray plus icon (the green plus adds a new row), then choose SmartVideo from the module list or find it with the search box.
  4. Choose your video in the module:
    • Divi 4: Set Video source to Media Library and use Upload a video to pick or upload a file. For a URL, set Video source to Another source and paste it into Video URL.
    • Divi 5: Use Choose from Media Library to pick or upload a file, or paste your URL into Video URL. Leave Video URL empty when choosing a Media Library file.
  5. Save and publish the page, then open the published page in a private browser window and play the video to check it. This checks the published page rather than the builder preview. If the page is restricted to members or enrolled students, open it while logged in as a test account. A video usually takes about as long as it runs to convert, and longer when our encoders are busy.

Shortcode alternative

Add a Code module where you want the video and paste this into it:

[smartvideo src="https://your-video.example.com/file.mp4"]

Replace the example URL with your video’s file URL or SmartVideo Library source URL, then save and publish the page and check it as in step 5.
