Short answer: yes, but not by pasting a video link into the MLS field. SmartVideo doesn’t hand out a standalone video URL or an iframe embed — by design. What you give the MLS is the URL of an unbranded page on your own site with the video embedded on it. That page becomes your virtual tour.
That sounds like an extra step, and it is one. It also tends to work in your favor, because a page you control is exactly what most MLS unbranded-tour rules are asking for.
Why there’s no link to paste
SmartVideo plays your video through our player on a page you own. Videos are referenced internally by an obfuscated swarmify:// pointer, so there is no public https:// file URL and no iframe embed code to copy out. Does SmartVideo give me an iframe embed or a direct video link? covers that in full.
So the workflow is: build the tour page, then submit the page.
Here’s how to set it up
1. Get the unbranded export. Ask your editor (or export yourself) a version with no agent name, headshot, phone number, brokerage logo, watermark, intro slate, branded end card, or spoken “call me” CTA. Property facts — address, room labels, acreage — are usually fine. Keep your branded cut for your own marketing.
2. Upload it. Drop the file into the SmartVideo Library in your dashboard, or point SmartVideo at a file you already host (S3, Wasabi, Dropbox, your WordPress media library, and others — see Video file sources). The Library is included on our standard paid plans; it isn’t part of the AppSumo lifetime deal. One thing to note: the source URL the Library shows you on a video’s Media Details page only works inside a SmartVideo tag — it isn’t a link you can paste into an MLS field on its own.
3. Build a bare tour page. One page per listing, with nothing on it but the video. No agent bio, no brokerage navigation, no contact form, no chat widget, no lead capture. Give it a neutral URL — /tours/123-oak-street rather than /jane-smith-luxury-listings.
4. Embed the video. With your SmartVideo script installed in the page <head> (grab the snippet from Configuration in your dashboard), drop the tag where you want the video:
<smartvideo src="https://your-video.example.com/file.mp4"
width="1280" height="720"
class="swarm-fluid" controls>
</smartvideo>
On WordPress, use the [smartvideo] shortcode or the SmartVideo block instead — no raw HTML needed. See Install SmartVideo on WordPress.
5. Check it the way a reviewer will. Open the page in a private window, on desktop and on a phone. It should play with no login, no password, and nothing branded above, below, or over the player.
6. Submit the page URL in your MLS’s unbranded virtual-tour field. Many MLSs keep separate branded and unbranded media fields — BerkshireRealtors is a good example — so make sure the clean link goes into the unbranded one. Field names and menu layout differ from board to board, so check your own MLS’s documentation for what the field is called.
Why this usually beats a YouTube or Vimeo link
A lot of agents try YouTube first and get bounced. The video file may be spotless, but the player around it isn’t: channel icon, video title, suggested videos, subscribe surfaces. Most MLSs read that as branded media.
Some boards say so outright: Doorify MLS doesn’t accept YouTube or Facebook virtual tours at all, because of the marketing links on those landing pages.
SmartVideo’s player carries no ads, no channel branding, no related-video grid, and no end screens — so the “the player is branded” failure mode doesn’t apply to you. The remaining work is keeping the page clean, which is entirely in your hands.
Our blog post How to host an unbranded, MLS-compliant listing video goes deeper on the four surfaces that get videos rejected — file, player, page, and URL — with the rule language quoted from real MLS documentation.
Before you build
Your site has to allow custom HTML. SmartVideo needs both the script snippet and the tag on the page. If your listing pages are on a platform that only accepts a video URL in a fixed field, that won’t work — you need a page area where you can paste HTML. Not sure? Email us your platform name and we’ll tell you before you spend time on it.
It’s also worth a quick look at your own MLS’s media rules before you build pages for every listing — some boards name specific hosts they won’t accept, and a two-minute read now beats a rejected submission later.
